Hospice

Dad went into Hospice today at Vitas. Before he left the hospital, he wrote mom a note on the back of a notepad. Sweetest thing I've ever seen and so true. This has been such an emotional two days. He is relieved to be here and is resting. We have no idea how much time we have left. Family and friends have come to give him their love and he is ready. We aren't but do not want him to suffer anymore. I feel like I've been preparing for these days since I was a freshman in collage when he had his heart attack. Every day has been an extra gift with him. Hard to believe that he has been 32 years since that massive heart attack. God's perfect plan has played out for my family. He has been with Mom and Dad and helped them stay together for 52 years. Mom said they basically raised each other since they've been together since she was 19 years old.

Update on Dad

We are in Conroe Regional with Dad. His lung cancer has gotten worse and he is suffering. That is a lot to deal with on its own, but mom is also nearby at Park Manor going through rehab for a broken ankle. She has been in since mid November. Dad has been in since 12/30. Heartbreaking that they can't be together at this time. We were able to wheel her over for a few days to visit, but now she has a bad cold or the flu. So now we wait. We are waiting for everything...doctors, tests, healing... everything! Every day I pray that we can take it day by day and put this in God's hands.

News Year's Eve 2017

This has been a stressful holiday with everything going on with mom and dad. We were with them yesterday and decided to go ahead and have our annual New Year's Eve party. This year's theme was Favorite Phobia! I came dressed as a butterfly and Matt was an elevator without the number 13. We played our trivia game and the gifts this year were around the phobia theme. People had to pick brown paper bats with the phobia name on the outside. We had a great time but missed the boys. They spent it with the Folgers.
